Solesso Kumamoto — Academy
A Kumamoto community club often called one of Japan's strongest developers, a regular at national U-15 competitions and a pipeline of players to J.League youth teams and beyond.
Solesso Kumamoto (officially “Sorriso”) is an independent community club in Kumamoto developing junior (U-12) and junior-youth (U-15) players, and is described by football media as one of Japan’s strongest developers. A regular at the national Club Youth U-15 and Prince Takamado U-15 championships, it has sent players on to J.League youth teams (such as Sanfrecce Hiroshima’s academy) and further to overseas and professional football. Consistently producing top-tier development results while being a regional community club is what sets it apart.
Club overview
Solesso Kumamoto is an independent development club (“street” club) based in Kumamoto, officially known under the name “Sorriso.” Though not a pro club’s affiliate, it carefully develops players from the junior level through middle-school age (junior-youth / U-15), and its graduates go on in numbers to J.League academies, strong high schools and even overseas and professional stages.
Football news outlet Qoly has described Solesso Kumamoto as Kumamoto’s “strongest-developing” community club, reporting that it produces a steady stream of players who move abroad. In 2025 it was noted that Solesso Kumamoto tied with Hiroshima’s junior-youth as the most-represented origin club among new first-years at Sanfrecce Hiroshima’s prestigious youth academy. A regional club supplying top academies with a stable stream of players is a notable case study in Japanese development.

Development philosophy
Behind the high regard for Solesso Kumamoto’s development is a coaching stance that thoroughly grows individual ability. While delivering national-level results, the focus is less on immediate wins than on cultivating the technique, intensity and independence needed to succeed at higher levels. Even under the banner “results are everything,” those “results” are defined as each player’s future breakthrough.
This philosophy is borne out by the fact that graduates progress to top academies nationwide and overseas. Maintaining national-class development from a regional base reflects a clear coaching direction and the accumulated day-to-day work that supports it.
