Thespa Gunma: Youth Academy & Player Pathway — SportsPulse Global

Club overview

Thespa Gunma is a professional football club whose home town is Gunma Prefecture. Born from players who gathered in the Kusatsu hot-spring town, it was long known as Thespakusatsu Gunma before adopting its current name as a club representing the whole prefecture. It plays home games mainly at an athletics stadium in Maebashi and draws support across a wide area of Gunma.

Alongside the first team, the club has built age-group development sides, offering promising local players a high-level environment and a pathway that connects youth to senior football within the club.

Academy structure

The academy includes a girls’ category alongside the boys’ age groups.

The official site provides dedicated pages for each age group with activity reports, staff and trial notices, and a dedicated academy social account. Together with the school it forms a two-tier structure. Intake, venues and league details update annually.

Development philosophy

As a club representing the whole prefecture, Thespa Gunma bases its development on putting down wide roots in the community while raising players — valuing age-appropriate growth in technique, decision-making and character, and sharing a style continuous with the first team.

Including a girls’ category, developing both boys and girls broadens Gunma’s football base and is an important part of the club’s role.

Notable graduates & pathway

A key aim is promotion from U-18 to the first team, moving talent up through junior, junior-youth and youth stages toward the professional level.

Honours

Key points for prospective players and parents are trial dates, venues, costs and balancing academics. Trials run mainly for U-18 and U-15, with a route up from the school. Timing and conditions change yearly — always check the latest official notices.
