Notable graduates & pathway
The academy’s emblematic graduate is Gotoku Sakai, a long-serving Japan international who rose from the Niigata youth system to the first team, played in Germany’s Bundesliga and built a national-team career. More recently Shion Homma progressed from the academy to the first team and then abroad, while Fumiya Hayakawa and Tatsuya Tanaka have also made their mark as academy graduates.
