Katayama entered F1 with Larrousse in 1992 before moving to Tyrrell, where he spent his best years.1 In 1994 he scored all five of his championship points — including two fifth places, at Brazil and San Marino — though strong results were hard to come by in uncompetitive cars later. He finished his F1 career with Minardi in 1997.
