The quick version

Mitsubishi is a giant of rallying. With the Lancer Evolution, Finland’s Tommi Mäkinen won four consecutive WRC drivers’ titles (1996–1999) — the first driver ever to do so — and Mitsubishi took the 1998 manufacturers’ title. In rally-raid, the Pajero became the most successful car in the history of the Dakar Rally, with a long run of victories. ⚠ Historical record.
